What are Acoustic Underlays?

Acoustic Underlays are specialized, sound-dampening materials installed between structural subfloors and finished hybrid, laminate, engineered timber and solid wood floors. Designed to absorb sound waves, they work to reduce transmission of ambient and impact noise (such as footsteps, furniture movement and loud voices) in multi-storey buildings. These compression-resistant underlays also provide exceptional moisture protection, stability and support through their dense construction. Together, these features enhance long-term performance whilst maximizing occupant comfort – making them ideal for both commercial and inter-tenancy residential applications.
